Blending the sacred Latin texts of the traditional Requiem Mass with the poignant poetry of Emily Dickinson and a reflective anonymous English verse, Arnesen weaves a rich tapestry of sound that is at once reverent and modern.  This luminous work is marked by lush harmonies, lyrical melodies, and a sensitive interplay between choir and orchestra.  Requiem for Solace transcends cultural and spiritual boundaries, offering a universal message of comfort.  It is, in the composer’s words, “meant to offer solace to those in pain and grieving, or to provide comfort in moments of remembrance and honor.”  Requiem for Solace invites listeners into a place of quiet reflection and emotional release—a musical tribute to the enduring human spirit.
