2003-2004 Concert Season
|
The American Experience
October 25, 2003
Trinity Lutheran Church
Stillwater, MN
|
Music has the power to move us - we know that. With this concert we invite you to share in an evening of exquisite, serenely beautiful, moving music for choir and orchestra.
Stephen Paulus and Morten Lauridsen are two of America's finest and most beloved composers of choral music today. Each has a unique sound. Both write superbly for voice and orchestra. Joining us will be a professional orchestra of strings, harp and percussion as well as guest organist Kathrine Handford for a performance of the sparkling Concerto for Orchestra by Stephen Paulus.
We are pleased to be again performing in the excellent acoustics of Trinity Lutheran Church and we encourage you to make this event even more special with a night on the town in the St. Croix Valley. Parking is free at the concert site and numerous restaurants are available for a before-or-after-concert dining experience.

Christmas at the Courthouse
December 5, 6, and 7, 2003
Washington County Historic Courthouse
Stillwater, MN |
Share in this wonderful St. Croix Valley tradition - Christmas at the Courthouse. There is no lovelier setting for a concert than the beautifully decorated Washington County Historic Courthouse. Sitting high on the hill, overlooking the St. Croix Valley, the room itself is a picture of perfection. Everywhere you look you will see the love and care put into this concert - from the candle lit pathways to the candle lit tables to the sumptuous refreshments AND to the music itself.
This year will find the Chorale bringing you a concert focusing on music of the Americas. Not only North America with carols old and new, but also a festive performance of "Navidad Nuestra" - Our Nativity by South American composer Ariel Ramirez.
We give four performances of this concert - but it is always sold out, so gather family and friends and order tickets early! Seating is at tables for ten and the joy of Christmas is guaranteed!

Join us for this journey through the American music scene. We will beguile you with folksongs and spirituals, wow you with Broadway and Hollywood, soothe you with cool jazz and heat up the night with the magic of rhythm and blues. If your taste in music includes Stephen Foster as well as Stephen Sondheim, we will delight you with both.
We will be pleased to premiere a new choral work by St. Paul composer David Evan Thomas that promises to be memorable in many and varied ways.
The last weekend in April is always the time when spring is breaking in Minnesota and hearts are light with anticipation. We will reflect all of these good things in song, décor and refreshments.
